Gifu University Organization for Promotion of Glocalization (GU-GLOCAL) offers a short-term overseas Spring School Program open to students across the university, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG, India), with which Gifu University jointly operates the Joint Degree Program (JDP).
The fifth Spring School Program was held at IITG from Monday, March 2 to Saturday, March 14, 2026. Of a total of 30 applicants, 10 Gifu University students were selected to participate in the program.
On the first day, Monday, March 2, an opening ceremony was held to mark the official start of the Spring School Program. During the program period, students were provided with opportunities to learn about India’s rich and diverse culture through visits to national parks representative of Assam State and local folk museums. Students also toured factories producing popular confectionery items widely consumed in India.
On campus, daily activities included a clay modeling workshop conducted by the Department of Design, as well as laboratory tours mainly focused on departments related to the Joint Degree Program at IITG. In addition, on Monday, March 9 and Tuesday, March 10, students attended the Joint Degree Symposium 2026, jointly organized by Gifu University and IITG.
Despite the relatively short duration of two weeks, the program provided an intensive and comprehensive learning experience covering the social and cultural aspects of IITG and North Eastern Region (NER) of India. Through various activities, students also developed friendships with local students.
On the final day, Saturday, March 14, each student prepared a poster summarizing what they had learned, organized into 14 thematic topics. They successfully delivered poster presentations in English and participated in Q&A sessions, after which they received their certificates of completion.

Mr. Iwai, also a recipient of the Best Presentation Award, receiving a commemorative gift
*This program was conducted with the support of MEXT’s “Inter-University Exchange Project.”
