The Center for Japanese Language and Culture (Nichibun center) of Gifu University offers various levels of each Japanese Language Training Course: Absolute Beginners and Beginners (A), Pre-intermediate (B), and Intermediate (C) in Intensive Course; and Absolute Beginners (A1), Beginners (A2), Pre-intermediate (B), Intermediate (C), and Pre-advanced (D) in Standard Course. Students are placed in the most appropriate level of Japanese class based on the result of the placement test.
Intensive Course
Classes are held from Monday to Friday

- Absolute Beginners and Beginners
- Objective
- This is an introductory course for students who are studying Japanese for the first time or have very minimal Japanese language ability. This course aims to provide students fundamental Japanese grammar and basic expressions, necessary for everyday life and study in Japan.

- Students are required to attend all classes from Monday through Friday.
- Subject
- Comprehensive Japanese A (10 classes), Letters & Vocabulary A (1 class) (11 classes are required in total)

- Pre-intermediate
- Objective
- This course is intended for students who have completed the beginner-level course. Through the four language skills of reading, listening, writing and speaking, students in the course will focus on the accurate usage of basic grammar and language expressions.
- Schedule
- Students are required to attend all classes from Monday to Friday.

- Comprehensive Japanese B (5 classes), Oral Comunication Exercises (2 classes), Listening Comprehension (1 class), Written Expressions (1 class), Kanji & Vocabulary (1 class) (10 classes are required in total)

- Objective
- This course aims to help students develop accuracy in using Japanese language expressions through learning intermediate grammar from various learning materials focusing on grammar and improving the four language skills of reading, listening, writing and speaking. In addition, students have the opportunity to attend some classes together with Japanese students.

- Students are required to attend all classes from Monday to Friday.

- This course is intended for students who are learning Japanese for the first time to acquire basic vocabulary and grammar necessary for living in Japan.
