Japanese Language Courses

Classes

The Center for Japanese Language and Culture (Nichibun center) of Gifu University offers various levels of each Japanese Language Training Course: Absolute Beginners and Beginners (A), Pre-intermediate (B), Intermediate (C) in Intensive Course, Pre-intermediate (B), Intermediate (C), Pre-advanced (D) in Standard Course and Absolute Beginners (JDL) in Japanese for Daily Life Course. Students are placed in the most appropriate level of Japanese class based on the result of the placement test.

Intensive Course

Classes are held from Monday to Friday

Absolute Beginners and Beginners
Objective
This is an introductory course for students who are studying Japanese for the first time or have very minimal Japanese language ability. This course aims to provide students fundamental Japanese grammar and basic expressions, necessary for everyday life and study in Japan.
Schedule
Students are required to attend all classes from Monday through Friday, 11 classes per week.

Comprehensive Japanese A (11 classes) including Basic Grammar, Composition and Oral Communication Exercises

Pre-intermediate
Objective
This course is intended for students who have completed the beginner-level course. Through the four language skills of reading, listening, writing and speaking, students in the course will focus on the accurate usage of basic grammar and language expressions.
Schedule
Students are required to attend all classes from Monday to Friday.
Subjects
Comprehensive Japanese B (5 classes), Oral Comunication Exercises (2 classes), Listening Comprehension (1 class), Reading Comprehension (1 class), Composition (1 class) and Vocabulary & Reading Comprehension (1 class). Students are required to complete at least 10 classes out of 11.

Objective
This course aims to help students develop accuracy in using Japanese language expressions through learning intermediate grammar from various learning materials focusing on grammar and improving the four language skills of reading, listening, writing and speaking. In addition, students have the opportunity to attend some classes together with Japanese students.
Schedule
Students are required to attend all classes from Monday to Friday.
Subjects
Comprehensive Japanese C (3 classes), Oral Communication Exercises (2 classes), Listening Comprehension (1 class), Reading Comprehension (1 class), Grammar (1 class), Composition (1 class) and Integrated Japanese Language Exercise (1 class). Students are required to complete all 10 classes.

Japanese for Daily Life Course

For students who are absolute beginners and busy with other academic studies

Objective
This is an introductory course for students who are studying Japanese for the first time and do not have spare time for studying Japanese language. This course aims to provide students basic expressions, necessary for everyday life in Japan, and does not focus exclusively on leaning Japanese characters (Hiragana and Katakana).
