The Center for Japanese Language and Culture (Nichibun center) of Gifu University offers the following three types of Japanese language courses which vary on the number of classes per week.
For students who want to focus on daily Japanese language studies (absolute beginners, beginners and non-beginners)
→Intensive Course (10 – 12 classes/week required, Monday to Friday)
For students who are busy with their academic studies but wish to continue their Japanese language studies with selected subjects (only non-beginners)
→Standard Course (1 – 7 classes/week)
For students who want to learn very basic Japanese for daily use (absolute beginners)
→Japanese for Daily Life Course (4 classes/week)
Intensive Course
Intensive Course is offered from Monday to Friday for one semester (half a year). Classes are divided into three levels: Beginners (A), Pre-intermediate (B), and Intermediate (C). The course aims to help students acquire and improve Japanese language in the shortest time possible.

Note 1: Intensive Course allows you to learn Japanese in four months. Students interested in this course must make sure they are able to attend the required classes.
Note 2: Student attendance rate for this course should be at 80%. Daily pre-class assignments and homeworks will be assigned. Before signing up for the course, students must make sure that they are willing to devote the time and energy to fulfill course requirements and that it will not affect their other academic and research activities.
Standard Course
This course allows students who have previously studied Japanese to choose the classes they are interested in. Students can sign up for classes in accordance with their purposes and class schedules. Classes are divided into three levels: Beginners (A), Pre-intermediate (B), and Intermediate (C). It is suitable for students who wish to study Japanese as much as possible but are busy with other academic studies.

Note1: Non-mandatory classes. Students can select any classes offered; however, once you have registered for the class, you are required to attend the class throughout the whole semester. Student attendance rate for each class should be at 80%.

Japanese for Daily Life Course
This course is provided for absolute beginner students only who are studying Japanese for the first time and wish to learn fundamental Japanese grammar and basic expressions necessary for everyday life in Japan. It is suitable for students who wish to study Japanese as much as possible but are busy with other academic studies.

Note 1: This course offers class for absolute beginners only. Students who wish to learn Japanese characters and grammar are required to take Class A, Intensive Course. The pre-requisite for taking the Class A, Intensive Course is the Japanese for Daily Life Course.
