GU and IITG Students Commence JDP Master's Course

On Thursday, April 2, 2026, the AY 2026 Orientation for the International Joint Degree Program (master’s course) in the International Joint Department for Food Science and Technology between Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and Gifu University was held. The orientation welcomed two newly enrolled students from Gifu University and five students from IITG. The five IITG students represent the fifth cohort from India since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Students participating in the Joint Degree Program (JDP) are enrolled at both GU and its overseas partner universities. During the two-year master’s program, students have the opportunity to study abroad at partner institutions for a fixed period. They attend classes, engage in research activities overseas, and work toward obtaining an international joint degree diploma issued by both GU and its partner universities, without extending their enrollment period at their home institutions.

The two GU students will study at GU until mid-July and will then study at IITG for five months beginning in late July. Conversely, the five IITG students will study at GU until late August. During their stay, they will attend classes, conduct research in laboratories under the supervision of GU faculty members, and have opportunities to participate in internship programs offered by Japanese companies. From mid-July, GU and IITG students will study together face-to-face at GU, working toward the shared goal of obtaining a JDP diploma.

Both GU and IITG students will receive financial support through the 2026 Student Exchange Support Program provided by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).
