Gifu University Organization for Promotion of Glocalization (GU-GLOCAL) has been offering GU students a short-term overseas study program called, "Spring School Program" in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG, Assam, India, one of GU's overseas partner universities jointly operating Joint Degree Programs (JDP)). The program resumed first in four years after the breakout of COVID-19 pandemic. Ten selected students out of 36 applicants took part in the Second Spring School Program at IITG, India from Friday, March 3 to Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
On the first day of the school on Friday, March 3, the opening ceremony was held simultaneously with the opening of "Indo-Japan Bilateral Symposium 2023 on Technologies for Bio Economic Development of NER^1" co-hosted at IITG by GU and IITG.
During the program, GU students were given an opportunity to visit Kaziranga national park one of the biggest parks in Assam, folk museum and Bhutanese style temple to understand Indian culture with great diversity. The students were also invited to inspect a seed farmer, confectionary factory and tea plantation that Assam is well-known for. On campus, the students attended a workshop at the Department of Design to learn how to utilize bamboo resources, also visited laboratories at JDP related departments. Despite the only two weeks of the program, GU students truly enjoyed learning about IITG and social culture in the north eastern region of India. In addition, GU students mingled with local students by joining one of the three biggest Indian festivals called "Holi," known as the Festival of Colors.

On the final day on Tuesday, March 14, GU students made a poster presentation on their chosen subject (they chose one out of 10 given subjects) and fielded questions from the audience all in English. All GU students successfully completed the program and received their certificate of completion.
