On Monday, December 2, 2024, President YOSHIDA Kazuhiro of Gifu University received a courtesy visit from Ms. Anna Wang, Principal Officer from the U.S. Consulate in Nagoya. During the meeting, there was a lively exchange of opinions about the history and future prospects of academic and cultural exchanges between Gifu University and the United States.
Gifu University has signed academic exchange agreements with American universities, including San Diego State University, Northern Kentucky University, and the University of South Florida, establishing close relationships through education and research activities over many years. In January 2024, Gifu University signed a researcher exchange agreement with the Center of Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CALMS) at the University of South Florida, and we expect to see the development of collaborative research and personnel exchanges in the medical field. Additionally, we have ongoing exchanges with Northern Kentucky University through student internships in the Faculty of Education. In 2023, the Director of the International Education Center at Northern Kentucky University visited Gifu University.
After the courtesy visit, Ms. Wang was invited to meet seven Gifu University students who have studied or traveled abroad. They discussed a wide range of topics, including students' experiences overseas and how the knowledge gained from studying abroad has influenced their current student life and future plans. It was an invaluable opportunity for the students to broaden their global perspectives and engage in direct dialogue with the American diplomat who has rich international experiences.
Gifu University will continue to deepen its cooperative relationship and promote exchanges in diverse fields with the United States in the years to come.
