GU GILP Symposium Winter 2024

[Event Overview]
The "4th Gifu University GILP Symposium Winter 2024" was successfully held on 18th December 2024, bringing together students, researchers, and experts to foster international collaboration and innovation. This online symposium provided participants from Japan and India with the opportunity to engage in insightful discussions and share research findings.

Total Number of Audience: Approximately 35 participants and 08 Winter School students.

[Sessions and Presentations]
The symposium featured two sessions of presentations and discussions:

Session 1: Invited Speaker Session

Three (03) invited speakers delivered talks for approximately 45 minutes each.

Topics included: AI in the Field of Agriculture, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Food and Bio-Industry, and Advanced Materials Research for Future Battery Technology. The final speaker also shared insights on how to write proposals for JSPS post-doctoral fellowships.

Session 2: Student Presentations and Panel Discussion (GU-IITG JD Program)

Three (03) GEP (2024-2025) students Mr. Rajani Kant Baro, Mr. Rajib Nandi, and Ms. Arunima Dhar, delivered short presentations on their research work conducted at IITG and Gifu University.

[Participant Engagement]
The symposium was attended by a diverse group of participants, including Master's and Ph.D. students, faculty members, and industry professionals. The online format allowed for interactive Q&A sessions, fostering meaningful exchanges between presenters and attendees. During the panel discussion, IITG students shared their experiences at Gifu University, providing positive feedback about the JD and GEP programs. Questions about the "Sakura India Young Researchers Invitation Program" were also raised during the session.

[About this symposium]
This symposium was held as an academic session of the Gifu Joint Degree Symposium 2024. The symposium was advised by Professor Himanshu Shekhar Jha from the Faculty of Engineering, a faculty member of Gifu University and an alumnus of IITG. The planning and implementation of the symposium were carried out by students participating in the GEP program¹⁾.

  • 1) Glocal Expert Program (GEP): A study program for master's and doctoral students that includes specialized courses in various fields, as well as learning components such as understanding global-scale issues, corporate research, and overseas internships. Program graduates shall be awarded an International Joint Certificate by Gifu University and IITG.
