On Thursday, January 30, 2025, GU-GLOCAL, in collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence Advanced Research Center and the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering, the Faculty of Engineering held a seminar titled 'How Global Perspectives Create New Values.' The event featured a keynote speech by Mr. ANNO Takahiro (AI engineer and entrepreneur), followed by a cross-disciplinary panel discussion with Dr. MOGI Kenichiro (neuroscientist) and Gifu University professors involved in AI, art history, and international studies. The seminar was held in a hybrid format at the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences building (Room 101, multipurpose hall), and via Zoom Webinar. Approximately 95 students, faculty, staff, and members of the public attended in person, with an additional 65 participants joining online.
In the keynote speech, Mr. Anno discussed the future of AI and Japanese society, using the Tokyo gubernatorial election as a case study. He spoke about the potential of AI in seemingly unrelated fields, the creation of new values through digital technology, and the changes in communication brought about by the use of AI.
In the panel discussion, Mr. Anno, Dr. Mogi, Professor TERADA Kazunori from the Faculty of Engineering, Professor NOMURA Yukihiro from the Faculty of Education, and GU-GLOCAL Executive Director KOYAMA Hiroyuki engaged in in-depth discussions. The session, moderated by Assistant Professor MATSUI Mayumi from GU-GLOCAL, focused on "Creating New Values and Mechanisms to Move People with a Global Background ー 'Glocal Human Resources' × 'AI and Japanese Society'." Each panelist shared their perspectives based on their overseas experiences.
GU-GLOCAL will continue to actively hold lectures and events to broaden the knowledge of students, faculty, staff, and the general public. The content of this lecture will be available on Glocal Lesson.
