On Friday, April 5, 2024, the Academic Year 2024 orientation for the ‘International Joint Department of Food Science and Technology between Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and Gifu University (master's program)’ was conducted. The orientation was for three newly enrolled Gifu University students and five students from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG, India).
Students participating in the Joint Degree Programs (JDP) are enrolled both in Gifu University and its overseas partner universities. During the programs, students have the opportunity to study abroad at the partner universities for a specific period (typically, two years for master’s programs). They attend classes, engage in research activities overseas, and work towards obtaining an international joint degree diploma from both Gifu University and the partner institutions without extending their enrollment period.
Three Gifu University students are studying at Gifu University, starting from April until mid-July this year. Subsequently, they will study at IITG for five months from late July. Conversely, four IITG students are studying at Gifu University, beginning in April and continuing their studies until late August. They attend classes, engage in research activities at laboratories under the supervision of Gifu University’s academic staff. They even have the opportunity to participate in internship programs offered by Japanese companies. By mid-July, Gifu University and IITG students will study together face-to-face at Gifu University, working towards a common goal: obtaining a diploma for the international joint degree programs.
Gifu University and IITG students are receiving support through the ‘2024 Student Exchange Support Program (Scholarship for Study in Japan under Agreement)’ offered by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).
