On Saturday, March 25, 2024, the Joint Degree Programs (JDP) Awarding Ceremony for the Academic year 2023 was held to honor Mr. UMEHARA Akira. He successfully completed the master’s program in the ‘International Joint Department of Food Science and Technology between Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG, India) and Gifu University,’ as part of the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology at Gifu University.
Gifu University, IITG, and the National University of Malaysia (UKM, Malysia) jointly launched four 1) international joint degree programs for master’s and PhD students in April 2019. Mr. Umehara was awarded a master’s degree on March 25 after successfully completing the ‘International Joint Department of Food Science and Technology between Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and Gifu University.’ Mr. Umehara belongs to the fourth cohort of graduates since the program’s inception.
The ceremony was conducted both in-person and online. Professor MITSUNAGA Tohru, Vice Dean of the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology, awarded Mr. Umehara the ‘Dean Award’ in recognition of his academic excellence. Following that, Professor NISHIZU Takahisa, Department Head, presented Mr. Uehara with the Certificate of Completion.
Professor Nishizu, two IITG professors, Professor Kaustubha Mohanty and Professor Chandan Das congratulated Mr. Umehara on successfully completing his program and achieving academic excellence. They praised Mr. Umehara’s unwavering determination and consistent efforts in completing his research work. Additionally, they extended their best wishes for his future endeavors and great success in the next chapter of his life.
