On Friday, December 8, 2023, Professor Chandan Das and Associate Professor Swarup Bag from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG, India) and the eight students taking part in the Winter School 2023 program visited the Office of the President and held talks with President YOSHIDA Kazuhiro of Gifu University (GU). Six students are from the IITG, and two students are from the National University of Malaysia (UKM, Malaysia).
Two IITG professors were staying at GU from December 5 to December 12 to discuss joint research programs and a launch a new "Glocal Expert Course" with GU counterparts.
The Winter School 2023 students have already started their studies at GU from December 6 which include attending Japanese language classes, experiencing Japanese cultures, and inspecting Japanese companies. They continue to study at GU until December 22.
The meeting with the President was also attended by Vice President KAMBARA Shinji (International Affairs, Information and (Deputy in Charge for) Evaluation), Executive Director KOYAMA Hiroyuki of Gifu University Organization for Promotion of Glocalization (GU-GLOCAL), Associate Director EBIHARA Akio (GU-GLOCAL), Professor UEMATSU Yoshihiko, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor YAMASHITA Minoru (Faculty of Education), and Professor KOBAYASHI Nobusuke (Faculty of Education).
IITG professors exchanged opinions with GU board members over the Spring Program 2024. Under the program, GU students are going to study at IITG in March 2024. Additionally, they discussed the details of hosting the India-Japan symposium in the future.
The Winter School students talked about their motivations and determination to make their studies at GU to be most productive and fulfilling.
It is expected that the professors' and students' meeting with the President and campus life at GU, and life in Japan will further strengthen the relationship among GU, IITG, and UKM in the days to come.
