Meeting between JDP Students and President of Gifu University

In 2019, Gifu University launched four international joint degree programs (JDP, master’s and doctoral programs) with Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG, India) and National University of Malaysia (UKM, Malaysia) for the purpose of internationalization, enhancement of quality of education and research capabilities.

In 2020 and 2021, both inbound and outbound in-person exchange was not possible among three partner universities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and during these years, instructions were given only online or on-demand basis for students, but from 2022, in-person exchange resumed and GU welcomed nine students from IITG and UKM who are continuing their studies at master’s and doctoral programs.

On Thursday, July 7, 2022, nine students from IITG and UKM and one GU student who is enrolled in the “International Joint Department of Food Science and Technology between Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and Gifu University (master’s)” and is preparing for studying at IITG from mid-July this year, visited the Office of the President.

In the meeting, students talked about their motivations why they are enrolled in JDP, their research themes, impressions about Japan, cultural differences among Japan, India and Malaysia, etc. President Kazuhiro Yoshida and the students enjoyed casual conversations for some time.

President Yoshida mentioned that active interactions are continuing among IITG, UKM and Japan through students’ participation in JDP, and underscored the importance of studying while living abroad.
