  • Dec 19 2019Report Session and Farewell Party

    The five students made their research presentations in the Report Session. The session was jointly conducted with the reporting session for the Japanese students who have completed their joint degree (JD) programs at IITG. The session was followed by Farewell Party where President Hisataka Moriwaki, supervisors, and student tutors, etc. were listening to the students’ 10 day experiences in Japan with great interest. At the end of the party, a lot of words of encouragement were offered from the university staff and students who are wishing them the best in the future.

  • Dec 17 2019Company Tour

    The students joined a company tour offered by Sinfonia Technology Co., Ltd (machinery parts manufacturer, Ise, Mie Prefecture). They were invited to observe some of the research facilities which are usually off-limits to people outside of the company. The students were given an opportnity to get some insights into one of the leading-edge technologies in Japan firsthand. After the tour, the students visited The Ise Grand Shrine (Shinto shrine), one of the most famous tourist destinations in Mie. They were thrilled to see many historical sites where people are still preserving unique traditional culture today.

  • Dec 13 2019Japanese-Style Confectionery Making Workshop

    The students attended a “Japanese-Style Confectionery Making Workshop” at a confectionery store in Gifu City. After listening to the history and a wide variety of Japanese sweets from the store staff, they practiced kneading ingredients under the instruction of professional confectioners. Later, the students enjoyed tasting their own sweets with Macha green powdered tea. It was a rare moment for them to be immersed themselves into the unique tea drinking culture in Japan.

  • Dec 12 2019Lecture on Health by Director of Health Administration Center

    Dr. Mayumi Yamamoto, Director/Professor of Health Administration Center delivered a lecture on health for the students concerning how to maintain health, and medical/ psychological support that the center can offer to the students during their stay in Japan. The students were intently listening to her lecture, and learned many differences in lifestyles and medical systems between Japan and their home countries.

  • Dec 11 2019Juni-Hitoe Traditional Kimono Workshop

    Five students joined the Workshop on “How to Wear Juni-Hitoe (twelve layered traditional kimono)” opened for international students, teaching and administrative staff of the university in line with the goal of experiential learning. After listening to the lecture on the history and basic knowledge about kimono, they were invited to try the kimono on, and felt its weight by themselves. Everyone looked very impressed with the profundity and beauty of traditional Japanese culture.

  • Dec 10 2019Welcome Party

    A total of five students (one from IITG and four from UKM) attended the 5th Winter School program. At Welcome Party, student tutors and international students who are studying at Gifu University warmly welcomed the five students. They later enjoyed conversations and formed a new friendship with one another.
