SDGs Study Session for Glocalization AY 2020

Gifu University’s “Glocalization” policy extends not only to Gifu Prefecture but also to the broader Tokai Region to fully utilize vital assets such as global human resources, information systems and networks that the region has built and fostered over the years.

In an effort to promote glocalilzation in regions and create sustainable society, Gifu University launched SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) online study sessions in AY2020. A total of five sessions opened from November, 2020 through March, 2021 with the participation of eminent researchers and scholars on an off campus

In the final 5th session held on Friday, March 26, 2021, Associate Professor Nozomu Sakurai from the National Institute of Genetics (Shizuoka Prefecture) delivered a speech under the title, “Comprehensive Analysis of Food Components (tools for high-added value).” Dr. Sakurai spoke about “Food Metabolome Repository,” the latest analysis technology that he invented for effective observations of unknown components contained in food. After his presentation, participants spent much time to exchange opinions with the audience, and their active information-sharing showed people’s high interest in next-generation food analysis technology.

In total, more than 200 people attended five SDGs study sessions, all of which were highly praised from science and academic communities.

GU-GLOCAL continues to host SDGs study sessions to fulfill our mission of glocalization.
