Professor KOYAMA Hiroyuki, Executive Director of the Gifu University Organization for Promotion of Glocalization (GU-GLOCAL), participated as a special invitee in the International Conference on Frontier Areas of Science & Technology (ICFAST TOKYO 2026) held at the University of Tokyo from February 14 to 15, 2026.
This symposium was an international conference organized by the India-Japan Society for Science, Technology & Education (IJSSTE) to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Japan–India cooperation in science and technology. The event brought together numerous participants including Professor KAJITA Takaaki, Nobel Laureate in Physics, as well as leading university executives, researchers, and representatives from industry in both countries. Discussions centered on the future of Japan–India collaboration in science and technology, human resource development, and academia–industry partnerships.
In the "Meet the Institutions" session, Professor Koyama introduced Gifu University's international education and research activities. He also delivered a lecture in the Plenary Session, highlighting the university's initiatives and exploring future possibilities for Japan–India collaboration.
During his talk, Professor Koyama stated: "Gifu University aims to further expand the educational and research networks it has developed with India and to build new frameworks that will enable students and researchers from both countries to thrive."
He expressed his strong commitment to deepening academic exchange between Japan and India.
The conference represents an important milestone in Gifu University's glocal education and research strategy and is expected to lead to further joint research, student exchanges, and expanded personal networks.
