Online Chat Meeting with Students from Partner Universities Overseas

As part of the "2022 International Month," Gifu University hosted an "Online Chat Meeting with Students from Partner Universities Overseas" on Wednesday, 19 October and Friday, 21 October, 2022. This online meeting is designed to offer Gifu University students and students of our overseas partner universities an opportunity to mingle and build a new friendship with one another. Online communications technologies today have made it possible for everyone to engage in this kind of opinion-exchange session real time, and they have been proved quite beneficial.

With GU academic staff as moderators, there were two online meetings with our two partner universities overseas, namely, Vytautas Magnus University (VMU, Lithuania), and The University of Lille (France). Fifteen students joined the University of Lille meeting, and 19 students joined the VMU meeting, respectively.

The meetings began with a brief overview of the two countries, Republic of Lithuania and France by academic staff. Later, the students were divided into small groups, and enjoyed talking about their campus life, food culture, etc. both in Japanese and English.

"I am glad to be able to talk with a small number of people and introduce ourselves including our hobbies." said one of the GU students. A student from one partner university also commented; "We enjoyed lively talks for some time, but more time is needed to get to know with each other."

It is our strong wish that continuation of these online chat meetings will pave the way for further development of faculty and student exchange between GU and our partner universities in the years to come.
