On Saturday, November 30, 2024, the '23rd Japanese Speech Competition by International Students Residing in Gifu Prefecture' was held at Gifu University. Serving as the host school, Gifu University implements the initiatives promoted by the Gifu Regional Council for the Promotion of International Exchange¹⁾, for which Gifu University is playing a role as the secretariat (Chubu Gakuin University served as co-host school for the competition).
This competition has been held since 2001 with the aim of encouraging foreign students enrolled in educational institutions in Gifu Prefecture to learn Japanese and improve their Japanese expression skills. On the day of the event, after the opening remarks by President YOSHIDA Kazuhiro of Gifu University, who also serves as Chairman of the Council, nine finalists from five countries, representing Asahi University, Chubu Gakuin University, Nakanihon Automotive College, International Takumi Academy, and Gifu University, delivered approximately seven-minute speeches in Japanese, showcasing the results of their daily efforts.
Ms. Nahdiah Amin from the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology, Gifu University participated and won the best prize.
The 23rd Japanese Speech Competition by International Students Residing in Gifu Prefecture encouraged many international students to further their Japanese language studies, improve their Japanese expression skills, and deepen their understanding of Japanese culture.
