Gifu University Organization for Promotion of Glocalization (GU-GLOCAL) hosted the Winter School Program 2025, a short-term inbound program, from Wednesday, December 3 to Thursday, December 18, 2025. This year marked the ninth edition of the program, welcoming seven students from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG, India) and two students from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM, Malaysia), both of which have Joint Degree Programs (JDP) with Gifu University.
As part of the cultural exchange activities with Japanese students, an exchange event with students from Kano High School was held on Wednesday, December 17. The high school students are scheduled to visit UKM in January 2026, and this event was organized to give them an opportunity to learn about UKM in advance and to foster interaction with international students.
In the first session, Professor Akio Ebihara, Associate Director of GU-GLOCAL, provided an overview of GU-GLOCAL's missions and initiatives, followed by presentations introducing UKM by the UKM students currently studying at Gifu University.
In the second session, Kano High School students gave presentations in English, and participated in group activities to deepen their connections with the international students.
For the Winter School participants, this was a valuable opportunity to interact with students outside Gifu University. GU-GLOCAL will continue to promote internationalization and strengthen collaboration with the local community.
