On Saturday, August 23, 2025, as part of the Gifu–Lithuania exchange program, "Lithuania NOW 2025," a special lecture titled "Introduction to the Lithuanian Language" was held, welcoming Associate Professor KIMURA Aya from Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine (Hokkaido Prefecture). A total of 24 participants—including students, faculty, and members of the general public—attended the event. Three photo panels showcasing Lithuanian landscapes were also displayed at the venue.
During the lecture, participants were introduced to essential Lithuanian phrases for everyday conversation, such as greetings and expressions for months and days of the week. The presentation also covered major cities including Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, and Šiauliai. In addition, the peaceful civic movement for independence from the Soviet Union known as the "Baltic Way (Human Chain)" was discussed, along with literary works and a live reading of Lithuanian poetry, offering attendees a deep insight into Lithuanian culture.
The Q&A session featured lively exchanges about the Lithuanian language, reflecting the participants' high level of interest. After the lecture, a friendly discussion took place centered around Dr. Kimura's publications, further deepening the cultural exchange in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
This special lecture provided a valuable opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of Lithuania’s language and culture.
