GU and IITG Students Commence JDP Master's Course

On Friday, April 4, 2025, the "AY 2025 Orientation for the International Joint Department of Food Science and Technology between the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and Gifu University (master's program)" was held. The orientation welcomed three newly enrolled students from Gifu University and four students from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG, India). The four IITG students represent the fourth cohort from India since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Students participating in the Joint Degree Programs (JDP) are enrolled at both GU and its overseas partner universities. During the program, students have the opportunity to study abroad at partner universities for a fixed period within their two-year master's program. They attend classes, engage in research activities overseas, and work towards obtaining an international joint degree diploma from both GU and its partner institutions without extending their enrollment period at their home universities.

The three GU students will be studying at GU until mid-July. Subsequently, they will study at IITG for five months starting in late July. Conversely, the four IITG students will be studying at GU until late August. They will attend classes, engage in research activities at laboratories under the supervision of GU academic staff, and have the opportunity to participate in internship programs offered by Japanese companies. By mid-July, GU and IITG students will study together face-to-face at GU, working towards the common goal of obtaining a JDP diploma.

GU and IITG students will receive support from the "2025 Student Exchange Support Program (Scholarship for Study in Japan under Agreement)" offered by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).
