GILP Symposium 2024 Summer

The 'GILP Symposium 2024 Summer' was held on Friday, 9 August 2024. GILP (Global Innovative Leaders Program) is a collective name for student-led activities under the MEXT's¹⁾ Inter-University Exchange Project, which has been implemented by Gifu University (GU) since 2022. Multiple report sessions on the program's outcomes by participating students, along with symposia for research exchange, were already conducted.

The 'GILP Symposium 2024 Summer' was mainly organized by students from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG), who studied at GU for six months from autumn 2023.

The symposium was chaired by Mr. Raagdeep Raj (IITG PhD student). Lectures were delivered by Prof. Chandan Das from IITG and Prof. Aparna Zagabathuni from NIT Calicut²⁾. It was followed by student research presentations by Mr. Ajay Kumar Shakya and Ms. Kumudhini Akasapu (both IITG PhD students). The event was attended by a total of 26 students and faculty members from GU and IITG.

During the symposium, participating students were asking a variety of questions to the presenters. After the lectures and presentations, the students shared their thoughts on the challenges of participating in Joint Degree Program (JDP³⁾) and Glocal Expert Program⁴⁾ , and discussed how to address these challenges.

The next 'GILP Symposium 2024 Winter' will be held in mid-December 2024 with the participation of universities in Japan and abroad, in addition to GU and IITG.
