Gifu University Organization for Promotion of Glocalization (GU-GLOCAL) has been offering Gifu University (GU) students a short-term overseas study program called the 'Spring School Program.' This program is conducted in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG, India), which is one of GU's overseas partner universities jointly operating Joint Degree Programs (JDP)).
Ten selected students out of 43 applicants participated in the third Spring School Program at IITG from Sunday, March 3 to Friday, March 15, 2024.
On the first day of the school on Sunday, March 3, an opening ceremony was held simultaneously with an opening of the Japan-NER^1 Bioeconomic Technology Cooperation Symposium 2024 through Industry-Academia under JDP Platform IITG-Gifu U. Joint Degree Symposium 2024 co-hosted by GU and IITG.
During the program, GU students had the opportunity to visit Kaziranga National Park, one of the largest parks in Assam, and explore a folk museum to gain insights into the rich diversity of Indian culture. Additionally, the students were invited to tour an instant noodle manufacturing factory and a biotic pesticide production facility. On campus, GU students participated in a workshop at the Department of Design, where they learned how to harness bamboo resources. They also made frequent visits to laboratories in JDP- related departments. Despite the program lasting only two weeks, GU students thoroughly enjoyed immersing themselves in the culture of IITG and the northeastern region of India. Furthermore, they had the chance to interact with local students through various events and activities.

On the final day on Friday, March 15, GU students delivered a poster presentation on their research themes and successfully answered questions from the audience, all in English. All GU students successfully completed the program and received a certificate of completion.
