On Monday, July 24, 2023, an orientation for 2023 "International Joint Master's Degree Program in Food Science and Technology between Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and Gifu University (JDP, master's degree)" was held at the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IITG, India) for three Gifu University students and five IITG students.
JDP students are enrolled in both GU and IITG and study at both universities for certain periods of time within their two-year JDP studies. While studying abroad, they attend lectures and engage in research activities, and are conferred a JDP diploma without extending their period of studying at their universities.
Three GU students who started their JDP from April this year, study at IITG for five months from late July through mid-December, 2023. They attend classes and carry out their research work by the end of November, and in December, they will attend an internship program offered by companies in India. Five IITG students enrolled in the JDP course also attend classes and work for their research themes at IITG, and are scheduled to come to Japan in April 2024 to launch their studies at GU. Both GU and IITG students will study together and compete with one another while sharing their common goal of obtaining a joint degree.
While studying at IITG, GU students are being supported by the Student Exchange Support Program (Scholarship for Study in Japan under Agreement) 2023 of the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).
