Specially Appointed Professor MIWA Shinichi Receives the “Distinguished Service Award” from the Ceramic Society of Japan

Specially Appointed Professor MIWA Shinichi of the Gifu University Organization for Promotion of Glocalization (GU-GLOCAL) has received the 80th (FY2025) "Distinguished Service Award" from the Ceramic Society of Japan. The award ceremony was held on June 4, 2026, in Tokyo.

This award is presented to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the promotion of industry, science, and technology related to ceramics, the education and mentorship of younger generations, and the preservation of traditional techniques. Professor Miwa has worked in the private sector on the development and commercialization of ceramic materials used in automobiles and semiconductor manufacturing equipment, thereby contributing to industrial advancement.

Currently, as a senior member of GU-GLOCAL, Professor Miwa is actively engaged in fostering industry-academia and international collaboration within the Tokai region and Gifu University, including the formation of the Gifu University JDP Consortium based on partnerships with overseas universities established through an international joint degree program. These achievements were highly recognized by the Ceramic Society of Japan and led to this award.
