On Saturday, November 22, 2025, the 24th Japanese Speech Competition by International Students Residing in Gifu Prefecture was held at Chubu Gakuin University's Kakamigahara Campus (30-1 Naka Oida-cho, Kakamigahara City, Gifu Prefecture) as part of the initiatives of the Gifu Regional Council for Promotion of International Exchange, for which Gifu University serves as the secretariat (host university of this year: Chubu Gakuin University)
This competition has been held annually since 2001 with the aim of encouraging international students enrolled at educational institutions in Gifu Prefecture to enhance their motivation for learning Japanese and improve their expressive ability in the language.
After the opening remarks by Dr. MOTOJIMA Osamu, President of Chubu Gakuin University and Chair of the Speech Competition Executive Committee, nine finalists representing six countries from Nakanihon Automotive College, Chubu Gakuin University, International Takumi Academy, Gifu Kyoritsu University, and Gifu University delivered speeches in Japanese for about seven minutes each, showcasing the results of their daily efforts.
From Gifu University, Mr. Su Shuo (Graduate School of Regional Studies) and Ms. Duo Ng Lan Anh (Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology) participated in the competition.
This year's competition once again inspired international students for further motivation to study Japanese language, improving expressive skills, and deepening understanding of Japanese culture.
